| Beschrijving voorzijde | Youthful, beardless head of Herakles facing right, wearing the lionskin headdress with the scalp drawn tightly over the crown and the open jaws framing his face — a rendering characteristic of early Macedonian coinage. The modelling of the facial features is bold yet archaic in style, with a pronounced brow and a strong profile. The flan is irregularly shaped, as is typical of hand-struck Asiatic-weight silver coinage of the mid-fourth century BC. |
