The figure stands upon a base or podium, rendered in the provincial artistic convention of Bostra. The encircling legend ΤΥΧΗ ΝΕΑϹ ΤΡΑΙΑΝΗ ΒΟϹΤΡΑ identifies the type as the Tyche of New Trajanic Bostra, referencing the city's refoundation under Trajan. The reverse composition reflects the strong civic pride of Bostra as a newly established Roman colonial centre. |
