Obverse description Bearded bust of Heracles facing right, draped in the Nemean lion skin, the scalp visible over the head and the paws knotted at the neck. The portrait is rendered in a robust, expressive style characteristic of provincial bronze coinage of Asia Minor. The Greek legend ΟΠΛΟΦΥΛΑΞ ('keeper of arms') appears in the field, identifying the deity in his role as divine armorer. The coin is bordered by a beaded or dotted circle.
