| Beschrijving voorzijde | Helmeted bust of the king facing right, depicted in the Hellenistic military tradition with a crested Macedonian-style helmet adorned with a cheekguard. The effigy is rendered in low relief on this square copper flan, exhibiting the characteristic Indo-Greek artistic blending of Greek portraiture with local engraving conventions. The surrounding Greek legend reads BAΣIΛEΩΣ EΠIΦANOYΣ ΣΩTHPOΣ ΠOΛYΞENOY, identifying the ruler as King Polyxenus, the Manifest Saviour, disposed along the borders of the square flan. The portrait displays visible die wear consistent with circulation coinage of the late Indo-Greek period. |
