Obverse description Central crowned Gothic monogram 'M' for Emperor Matthias II, surmounted by an open royal crown in relief. The initials R and B flank the monogram to the left and right respectively, denoting the Kuttenberg mint master or assayer. The four-digit date appears in the lower field beneath the monogram. The design is executed in a bold, deeply-struck hammered style characteristic of early seventeenth-century Bohemian minor coinage, with a correspondingly irregular flan edge.
