| 裏面の説明 | A large Gothic capital letter 'B', serving as the initial of Bytom (Bithom), prominently displayed in the central field within a circular border. The letter is rendered in a bold, decorative Gothic style characteristic of Silesian municipal coinage of the early 15th century. A circular uncial legend runs around the periphery of the coin. The flan is irregular and slightly concave, as is typical of hammered hellers of this era. |

Bytom's civic coinage of this period reflects the city's position within the Duchy of Opole — a fragmented Silesian territory changing hands repeatedly between Polish, Bohemian, and Hungarian spheres of influence throughout the early fifteenth century. Municipal issues like this heller circulated locally precisely because ducal coinage was unreliable in supply. Kop. 8597 is among the scarcer Silesian civic hellers, with surviving examples concentrated in Polish institutional collections following excavations of hoards near Upper Silesian trade routes.
