Hekte

Kyzikos, positioned on the southern shore of the Propontis, became one of the ancient world's most prolific producers of electrum coinage — and among the most trusted. Kyzikenoi circulated so widely and with such consistent fineness that they functioned as an international trading currency across the Greek world, the Black Sea littoral, and into Persia for centuries, long outlasting the city's own political relevance.

The hekte denomination, a sixth-stater, was the workhorse of that system. The tuna reverse punch found on these early issues is a Kyzikene signature, tied to the city's fishing economy and used as a guarantor mark across the entire series.
