| Beschrijving keerzijde | A quadripartite incuse square dominates the reverse, divided by two perpendicular ridges into four roughly equal recessed compartments, each slightly unequal in depth, creating a windmill or swastika-like stepped effect characteristic of early Greek electrum coinage. The incuse pattern was produced by the punch used to drive the blank against the obverse die during striking. The field surrounding the incuse square is flat and featureless. No legend or device is present. The technique is consistent with Phokaian hektes of the late archaic and early classical periods. |
