Obverse description Head of a griffin in left profile, rendered in bold archaic relief with characteristic hooked beak, pricked ear, and elaborately striated neck. The creature's powerful jawline and stylized feathering are rendered with confident archaizing artistry typical of early Phokaian electrum coinage. To the right of the griffin's head, a small seal (phoke) is depicted in upward-facing profile, serving as the civic badge of Phokaia. The design fills the irregularly shaped flan with assured, high-relief engraving. No legend or inscription is present in the field.
