| Beschrijving voorzijde | Helmeted head of Athena facing left, wearing a crested Corinthian helmet, the bowl of which is decorated in relief with a seal (phoke) swimming to the left — a characteristic civic emblem of Phokaia. The modelling is rendered in the fine archaic-to-classical style typical of Ionian electrum coinage, with carefully articulated facial features and helmet crest. The flan is compact and slightly convex, as is customary for hammered electrum hektai of this period. |
