Obverse description Facing left bust of a male figure, tentatively identified as Attis, wearing a distinctively tiered Persian headdress (kidaris). The portrait is rendered in the archaic Greek style with careful attention to the headdress's stepped form. A small seal (phoca), the civic badge of Phokaia, appears to the right of the principal type, oriented downward, serving as a mint identifier in the field.
