Obverse description Male head in right profile, rendered in fine archaic Greek style with carefully delineated wavy hair drawn back from the brow and gathered at the nape; the facial features are sharply modelled with a strong jaw, prominent nose, and subtly parted lips. The portrait, likely representing a youthful deity or hero, occupies the full flan. No legend or inscription appears in the field. The relief is high and the workmanship characteristic of the accomplished die engravers active at Mytilene during the fifth century BC.
