Obverse description A tunny fish (thunnus) depicted in high relief in the left field, serving as the characteristic civic badge of Kyzikos, rendered in a bold archaic style with naturalistic detail. A crouching lion or feline creature appears in the primary field, executed in the vigorous, dynamic manner characteristic of early Ionian electrum coinage. The design is set within an irregular, slightly convex flan typical of hammered electrum hektai of this period. The field surrounding the main device is uneven, consistent with the archaic hand-struck technique. No legend or inscription is present.
