| Obverse description | The obverse bears a bold Shahada legend executed in the thuluth script, filling the entire field in a characteristic Safavid cartouche-like layout divided by a prominent horizontal rule. The upper register carries the first portion of the Islamic declaration of faith, while the lower register continues with the names of the Prophet Muhammad and Imam Ali as intercessor. The deeply struck, angular letterforms are characteristic of the robust die-cutting style of early Safavid gold coinage. The flan exhibits the irregular, slightly convex surface typical of hammered gold issues of this period. No border or decorative elements frame the inscription. |
