| Obverse description | Central field bears the Islamic declaration of faith (Shahada) disposed in three horizontal lines of Arabic Kufic script. The inner area is enclosed by a circular marginal legend in Arabic, commencing at approximately 1 o'clock and reading right to left, containing the mint and date formula introduced by the Basmala. The overall design follows the aniconic tradition established by the Umayyad reform coinage of 'Abd al-Malik, with all decorative elements replaced entirely by epigraphic content. |
