Reverse description A plain cross divides the field into four quadrants, with two fleurs-de-lis and two crowns alternating in the angles, the entire design set within a quadrilobe frame enclosed by a beaded inner circle. The quadrilobe, a characteristic decorative element of Provençal billon coinage of this period, imparts an elegant Gothic aesthetic to the composition. The circumferential legend in uncial characters reads SIT nOmE DnI BEnEDITVm, a devotional inscription invoking the blessing of the Lord's name. The reverse design closely follows the iconographic tradition established for the hardis of Provence under the Valois-Orléans dynasty.
