Reverse description A plain cross pattee divides the reverse field into four quarters, with two fleurs-de-lis and two royal crowns alternately disposed in the cantons, emblematic of the French royal arms. The cross terminals are slightly flared and the overall composition is bold and symmetrical despite the irregular flan typical of hammered production. A circular legend in uncial Latin script surrounds the design within a beaded border.
