Reverse description A plain cross pattee divides the field into four quarters, with the cantons decorated alternately: a royal crown appears in the first and fourth quarters, and a fleur-de-lis in the second and third quarters. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the circular legend in uncial Latin characters distributed around the periphery. The overall composition is characteristic of the monetary reform issues of Louis XI.
