Reverse description A plain long cross extending to the edge of the coin divides the reverse into four quadrants, each containing either a passant leopard (lion) or a fleur-de-lis in alternating arrangement — two leopards and two fleurs-de-lis placed in diagonally opposite quarters. This quartered design reflects the combined heraldic claims of the English crown to both England and France. A circular legend in uncial Latin characters runs along the outer edge, enclosed within a beaded border.
