Obverse description Central field depicts a crowned, enthroned figure of the king facing front, rendered in a stylized Gothic manner typical of late 15th-century French hammered coinage. The monarch is shown seated in majesty, holding the symbols of royal authority, with the crown prominently displayed above the head. The effigy is enclosed within a beaded or rope inner border. The circular legend KAROLVS : FRANCORV : REX : in Latin script runs along the periphery, identifying the issuer as Charles, King of the French. The strike is characteristic of hammered production, resulting in a slightly irregular flan with uneven relief.
