Obverse description Central device depicting a bird, likely a swan or similar fowl, facing left within a beaded inner circle. The surrounding legend in Latin characters reads WILLIAM . MOORE .. encircling the central motif. The outer rim is decorated with a repeating dentilated or pellet border typical of mid-17th century English trade tokens. The overall design is characteristic of the tradesmen's token coinage issued during the interregnum and Restoration period.
