Obverse description Helmeted head of Athena facing right, rendered in fine Hellenistic style. The goddess wears a Corinthian-type helmet pushed back on her head, revealing loose flowing hair cascading behind the neck. The facial features are delicately modeled with a sharp profile, characteristic of the late Metapontine coinage tradition. The field is smooth and unadorned, with no visible legend or inscription.

Reverse description A tall, finely detailed ear of barley depicted upright at the center of the field, the grain head rendered with careful attention to individual kernels and lateral awns in the longstanding Metapontine iconographic tradition. To the lower right, a single curved leaf or tendril extends gracefully outward. The ethnic legend ΜΕΤΑ appears vertically to the left of the stalk in Greek characters, identifying the issuing city of Metapontion.
