The portrait is rendered in a fine Renaissance style with strong relief and naturalistic detail characteristic of early sixteenth-century South German die-cutting. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | Quartered heraldic shield displaying the combined arms of the Archbishopric of Salzburg and the personal arms of the Wellenburg family, with a rampant lion and fleur-de-lis motifs appearing in the respective quarters. A broad-brimmed cardinal's hat with elaborate pendant tassels is placed above the shield as a rank indicator. The surrounding Latin legend invokes Saint Rupert, patron saint and first bishop of Salzburg, reading + SANCTVS RVDBERTVS EPVS SALZBVRGN. The heraldic composition is executed with fine engraving typical of the Salzburg mint in the early Thaler period. |
