| Obverse description | Full-length frontal figure of Saint John the Baptist, nimbate, draped in a mantle of angora (camel hair), standing facing within the field. The saint holds a processional staff surmounted by a cross of Guelders type in his right hand, while a Christian cross appears between his feet. The surrounding legend, rendered in Latin uncial script, terminates with the mint mark of a lion. The design follows the Rhenish gold gulden tradition with strong Gothic stylistic influence. |

| Reverse description | Five heraldic shields arranged in the form of a cross within a quadrilobe frame, each bearing a distinct coat of arms: the shield of Arnhem at top, flanked and followed in the horizontal band by those of Roermond, Nijmegen, and Zutphen, with a fifth shield of uncertain or fantasy attribution at the base. The surrounding legend in Latin uncial script identifies the issuer as Duke Arnold of Gelderland and Jülich and Count of Zutphen. The quadrilobe border is characteristic of the Rhenish gulden type prevalent in the Low Countries during the fifteenth century. |
