| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field bears the quartered crowned arms of Philip the Handsome — combining the quarters of Castile-León, Austria, Burgundy, and Brabant — surmounted by an ornate crown with fleurons, the whole shield superimposed upon a floriated cross of vine branches extending to the coin's inner border. The arms are rendered in fine Gothic relief consistent with late 15th-century Burgundian die-cutting traditions. A beaded inner circle separates the central device from the outer legend. The circumferential inscription in Gothic uncial letters reads: PhS ARChID AVS D BG C h, abbreviating Philip's titles as Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy, and Count of Holland. |
