| Reverse description | Full-length frontal figure of Saint Philip the Apostle, nimbate, standing in hieratic pose within a Gothic architectural frame of small trefoil arcs forming a decorative inner border. The saint is depicted holding a tall cross-tipped staff in his right hand and the Book of the Gospels in his left, rendered in the elongated Gothic figural style characteristic of Burgundian coinage of the period. Fine drapery folds are visible on the saint's robes, and the nimbus is clearly delineated in relief. The surrounding legend in Gothic uncial script reads: SCE PhILIPE InTERCEDE PRO nOBI, translating as 'Saint Philip, intercede for us.' |
