Obverse description St. John the Baptist depicted full-length, standing facing, clad in robes and holding a cross-tipped scepter in his right hand. The figure is rendered in the Gothic style typical of late 14th- to early 15th-century Low Countries ecclesiastical coinage. A lion rampant to the left appears within the surrounding legend field. The circular Latin legend naming the patron saint frames the central device.
