Reverse description The reverse presents a broad, ornate baroque cartouche formed by richly engraved acanthus and foliate scrollwork radiating symmetrically from all sides, with a decorative foliate mask or shell motif at the crown. Within the cartouche, the Latin motto AUXILIO DEI PROSPERE (meaning 'By the help of God, prosperously') is inscribed in four lines across the central field, the lettering bold and well-spaced against a smooth background. The entire composition exemplifies the high baroque decorative style characteristic of early eighteenth-century Swiss civic coinage.
