Reverse description Crowned imperial double-headed eagle displayed, with wings spread, bearing on its breast a complex quartered shield of the Habsburg hereditary lands including the arms of Austria, Burgundy, and the composite dynastic quarters. The date 1569 appears prominently above the shield at the top of the field. The encircling Latin legend ARCHIDVX AVSTRIÆ DVX BVRG MARC MORAV is arranged around the eagle within a beaded border, denoting Maximilian II's titles as Archduke of Austria, Duke of Burgundy, and Margrave of Moravia. The design follows the established Reichstaler typology of the period.
