Reverse description The crowned shield of Austria-Burgundy, quartered with the arms of the respective territories, is superimposed upon a long cross pattée extending to the inner circle. The four letters G, A, N, D — the abbreviation for GANDAVUM (Ghent) — appear individually in the four quarters formed by the cross and the inner circle, flanking the shield. The heraldic composition is rendered in the formal style of Burgundian dynastic coinage. The reverse legend in Latin uncial script encircles the design, identifying Philip by his titles.
