Obverse description Standing full-length figure of Saint John the Baptist, nimbate, depicted in frontal view within a tressure or inner circle, holding the Agnus Dei (Lamb of God) in his left arm. The arms of the city of Ghent appear in the lower field beneath the figure. The composition reflects the Flemish late-Gothic artistic style characteristic of Burgundian coinage of the period. The legend runs along the outer border in Latin uncial characters.
