| Aversbeschreibung | A large, finely detailed fleur-de-lis occupies the central field, rendered in the Gothic style characteristic of 14th-century Brabantine coinage and closely modelled on the Florentine gold florin prototype. The lily displays elaborately textured petals with stippled surfaces, rising from a small globular base at the bottom and terminating in a single central petal flanked by two curling lateral petals at the top. A small heraldic device, likely a star or annulet, appears above the uppermost petal. The surrounding legend in uncial Latin characters reads: + . I . DVX. BRABA`, identifying John (Johannes), Duke of Brabant. The coin is struck on a slightly irregular flan with a beaded inner border. |

| Reversbeschreibung | The reverse depicts a full-length standing figure of Saint John the Baptist (the patron saint of Florence, whose florin type this coinage imitates), shown facing, with long hair and beard, clad in a hairshirt and mantle rendered with fine drapery lines. The saint raises his right hand in blessing and holds a long cross-staff in his left hand. Two small heraldic devices, possibly lions or eagles, flank the figure in the upper field. The surrounding uncial Latin legend reads: S. IOHANNES. B, identifying Saint John. The design is enclosed within a beaded inner border, consistent with the hammered technique of medieval Brabantine gold coinage. |
