| Obverse description | Full-length facing figure of Saint Andrew, the patron saint of Burgundy, depicted as a bearded elderly man draped in flowing robes, holding his distinctive saltire cross (X-shaped cross) before him, the arms of the cross extending nearly to the coin's inner border. The saint is rendered in high relief in the Gothic style typical of Burgundian Low Countries coinage. Small mullets or rosettes are scattered in the field around the figure. The circumferential legend in uncial Latin characters is separated from the central device by a plain inner circle. |
