Additional information

The Toruń mint reopened specifically to address a chronic shortage of small silver denominations in Royal Prussia following the region's reintegration into the Polish Crown after the Thirteen Years' War. Sigismund I had been fighting a losing battle against the flood of underweight Lithuanian and Mazovian groschen that had degraded confidence in the entire domestic coinage system, and the 1526 monetary reform — which established unified weight and fineness standards across the Crown — was the direct legislative trigger for this series.

The Kop#3081–3086 spread reflects genuine die variation across the run, not merely editorial grouping. Toruń production ceased definitively by 1535 when minting activity consolidated back toward Kraków and the newly regularized Gdańsk operation.
