| Reverse description | Central device consisting of a crowned quartered shield bearing the arms of Poland and Lithuania — the Polish eagle and the Lithuanian Pursuer (Pahonia) — set within a cruciform arrangement framed by an ornamental border. The crowned shield is surrounded by the circular legend GROSSVS. REG. POL. M. D. L., reading 'Groschen of the Kingdom of Poland and Grand Duchy of Lithuania.' The outer border is defined by a beaded or milled rim. The engraving style reflects the refined heraldic craftsmanship associated with Jan Filip Holzhaeusser and the early coinage reform of Stanisław August Poniatowski. |
