Obverse description Central field features the elaborate crowned royal cypher of Stanisław August Poniatowski, formed by the intertwined initials S and A (Stanislaus Augustus Rex) in an ornate calligraphic monogram with foliate flourishes at the lower sides. A royal crown surmounts the cypher. The date is divided by the monogram, with '17' to the left and '65' to the right. The mintmaster's initials 'V.G.' appear in the lower exergue.
