Obverse description Central field bears the crowned Polish eagle displayed, with wings spread, the Vasa dynastic shield superimposed on the eagle's breast. A circular Latin legend surrounds the design, reading the royal titulature of Jan II Kazimierz Waza, King of Poland. The crown above the eagle is rendered in relief, and the entire composition is characteristic of mid-17th century hammered coinage of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth.
