Obverse description Central field displays a pointed heraldic shield semé of fleurs-de-lis (France Ancient arms), surmounted by a royal crown rendered in high relief. Flanking the shield on each side is a crowned serpent (biscione), the dynastic emblem of the Visconti-Sforza, serving as supporters. The entire design is enclosed within a beaded inner circle, with the royal legend disposed in the outer annular field. The overall style is characteristic of late 15th- to early 16th-century Milanese hammered coinage, with bold, deeply cut devices.
