Obverse description Half-length crowned bust of Emperor Frederick II facing right, depicted in imperial regalia. The emperor holds a fleur-de-lis tipped sceptre over his right shoulder and a flower in his left hand. The effigy is rendered in a bold, stylised Romanesque manner characteristic of mid-13th century Italian communal coinage. The circumferential Latin legend names the emperor, enclosed within a beaded border.

Reverse description A displayed imperial eagle with wings spread wide, head turned to the left, depicted in a bold and stylised heraldic manner. The eagle stands upon a decorative base formed by crossed elements, with ornamental stars and other devices filling the field around the figure. The circumferential Latin legend identifying the city of Como runs between two annulets, enclosed within a beaded border.
