Beschrijving keerzijde Full-length frontal figure of Saint Prosdocimus, the first bishop of Padova, depicted in episcopal vestments with a nimbus around his mitered head. The saint holds a pastoral staff (crozier) in his left hand and raises his right hand in benediction. The figure stands within a pointed oval mandorla or architectural frame. A mint-mark letter appears in the lower field. The surrounding peripheral legend in uncial Latin characters names the patron saint, contained between an inner linear circle and an outer beaded border.

Aanvullende informatie

Francesco I da Carrara seized Padova in 1355 with Visconti backing, then spent the next two decades maneuvering against those same allies — the coinage issued under his rule reflects a lordship perpetually negotiating its independence between Milan and Venice. The "Carrarino" designation itself became a regional currency name that outlasted the dynasty, circulating well beyond Paduan borders into the Veneto trade network.

The multiple MEC XII references suggest at least four recognized die varieties for this type, an unusually dense clustering that points to sustained and possibly decentralized production across Francesco's long tenure.
