Obverse description Within a beaded inner circle, a frontal half-length figure of Saint John the Baptist, nimbate, draped in a cloak of animal skins, raising a cross-tipped staff in his right hand — the staff crossing the inner beaded border at the top — while his left hand holds a scroll or banner inscribed ECCE, dividing the lower portion of the inner circle. The figure is rendered in the stylized Romanesque-Gothic manner typical of Florentine coinage of the early fourteenth century. A surrounding outer legend is separated from the inner circle by a second beaded border.

Reverse description The heraldic lily (giglio) of Florence, centrally placed in the field, depicted in a stylized Gothic form with two flanking floral offshoots rising from the base. The design is characteristic of Florentine civic coinage, with the lily rendered with pronounced central petal and symmetrical foliate details. A surrounding legend is enclosed within a beaded border and separated from the central device by the open field.
