| Obverse description | Central field bears a bold voided cross pattée with a globule placed in each of the four angles formed by the arms, all contained within a plain inner circle bordered by a beaded cordon. The surrounding marginal legend in Gothic-style Latin capitals reads DE ARITIO, referencing the city of Arezzo, separated by decorative stops. The overall design is typical of central Italian communal coinage of the mid-thirteenth to early fourteenth century, executed in the hammered technique with characteristic irregular flan edges. |
