| 正面描述 | Central short cross pattée with alternating pellets and fleurs-de-lis occupying the four angles, all contained within an inner beaded or reeded circle. The surrounding legend in uncial Latin characters reads ✠ CREMONA, identifying the issuing city. The design is characteristic of northern Italian communal coinage of the early fourteenth century, with the cross as the dominant motif in the field. |

Cremona's silver grosso issues of the early Trecento fall within the city's last decades of genuine communal independence before Azzone Visconti seized control in 1334. The grosso of 10 denari was a practical response to the chronic undervaluation of smaller Lombard denominations, as sustained commercial activity along the Po valley — particularly in grain and textile markets — demanded a reliable medium-weight silver unit that local bichini and denari piccoli simply could not serve.
MEC XII documents this type among the more difficult northern Italian communal issues to attribute cleanly, with die workmanship varying considerably across the emission period.
