| Obverse description | Central device comprising the ornate lily (giglio) of Florence, rendered in high relief with elaborate foliate scrollwork and acanthus-like detailing, rising from a decorative base. The design is boldly struck, with the lily's three principal petals and curling lateral volutes filling the field. A circular Latin legend, beginning at the lower left, surrounds the central device and is separated from the coin's beaded border by a plain inner margin. |

| Reverse description | Saint John the Baptist, nimbed and enthroned facing, his right hand raised in benediction with the Guelph arms displayed at his fingertips, and a cross-tipped staff resting on his left shoulder. The figure is depicted in flowing robes with fine drapery detail consistent with mid-fifteenth-century Florentine die-cutting. The saint's right foot projects into and divides the surrounding circular Latin legend. The legend concludes with the mintmaster's mark identifying the semester of issue. |
