Reverse description A Nativity scene in which the Virgin Mary kneels at right, facing left toward two approaching shepherds, with the radiant and nimbate Infant Christ depicted between them. A stable with animals occupies the background, lending depth to the devotional composition. The scene reflects the religious iconographic tradition common to North Italian Renaissance coinage of the early sixteenth century. The mint name PISAV appears in the exergue, identifying the Pesaro mint.
