| Obverse description | Central field dominated by the crowned quartered shield of Burgundy, displaying the arms of the duchy beneath a ducal coronet. Two diagonal saltires (St. Andrew's crosses) flank the shield on either side, a characteristic emblem of the Burgundian dynasty under Charles the Bold. The shield is set against a plain field, with the design rendered in the bold, slightly irregular style typical of late medieval hammered coinage. A beaded inner circle frames the central device, separating it from the surrounding peripheral legend. The entire composition reflects the heraldic grandeur associated with Valois Burgundian numismatic art. |
