Obverse description Central field features the heraldic shield of Lorraine, depicted at a tilted angle and surmounted by a great helm from which an eagle displayed in flight serves as the crest. The shield and helm divide the surrounding Latin legend into two portions. The die work is characteristic of late 14th-century French-influenced hammered coinage, with Gothic lettering bordering the central device.

Reverse description A downward-pointing sword occupies the central axis of the field, dividing the inner legend into two registers. Flanking the sword on either side is the heraldic shield of Lorraine, creating a symmetrical heraldic composition. The outer legend, rendered in Gothic Latin script, identifies the coin as minted at Nancy. The overall layout is consistent with the groschen tradition of the Lorraine duchy during the late medieval period.
