| Reverse description | Central cross with trefoil terminals at each arm (croix tréflée), occupying the full inner field and dividing it into four quarters, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The arms of the cross are boldly struck in high relief, with each terminal ending in a distinctive three-lobed trefoil motif consistent with the floreated cross type. The surrounding Latin legend, invoking a blessing upon the name of the Lord, runs continuously around the periphery between two concentric circles. The irregular flan edges and variable die alignment are characteristic features of this hammered billon issue from the Vannes mint. |
