| Obverse description | Full-length standing figure of Duke Charles II of Lorraine facing forward, crowned and robed in a stripped tunic coat, depicted in Gothic style within a beaded inner circle. The duke holds a sword or sceptre in his right hand, with his garments rendered with detailed drapery folds characteristic of early 15th-century hammered coinage. A Latin legend reading KAROLVS DVX LOTHOR Z M (Charles, Duke of Lorraine and Marquis) runs continuously around the periphery between the beaded border and the coin's irregular edge. |

| Reverse description | Central field features a large ornate Gothic cross with decorative fleurs-de-lis or trefoil terminals at each arm, enclosed within a beaded inner circle. The cross divides the inner field into four quadrants, each containing Gothic lettering forming an inner legend. A lengthy Latin devotional and monetary legend — BHDICTV SIT NOME DNI NRI IHV XPI MONETA DE NANCI — encircles the outer field between the beaded border and the coin's irregular edge, invoking a blessing in the name of Jesus Christ and identifying the mint of Nancy. |
