Obverse description Bearded, crowned bust of Ferdinand I facing right within a beaded inner circle, depicted with a youthful portrait typical of early Habsburg coinage. The emperor wears a crown and royal vestments rendered in the hammered style. A Latin legend commences at 12 o'clock and runs clockwise around the inner circle.

Reverse description The Tyrolean eagle displayed with nimbus (halo), head turned to sinister, occupies the central field within a beaded inner circle; a Tyrolean shield is superimposed at the eagle's breast. Below the eagle, a small orb bearing the denomination mark intersects both the inner and outer legend circles, dividing the reverse legend. The Latin legend commences at 7 o'clock, running clockwise, with the date appearing at the conclusion of the inscription.
